Learn Meditation

You have a mind, but you are more than your mind.

A Quiet Discovery

For most of us, whatever the mind says feels true.

When the mind is anxious, we say, “I am anxious.” When it is restless, we say, “I can’t settle.” And when it fills with doubt, it can start to feel as though the doubt is simply who we are.

Raja Yoga begins somewhere else.

It starts with a quiet discovery.

You have a mind, but you are more than your mind. That sounds like a small thing to say. It is not a small thing to live.

Once you can watch a thought without immediately believing it, something begins to loosen. A small gap opens where there used to be none. In that gap, you have room to choose. The conversation you keep replaying long after it ended is still happening only in your mind. You begin to discover that not every thought deserves your attention.

This is why the practice is more than a way to relax. Relaxation comes and goes. What you are building here is a different way of living with your own mind, one you can return to long after you have left the room and gone back to your day.

Little by little, you begin to lead your mind instead of being led by it.

That is the work of Raja Yoga.

What You’ll Learn

As you learn the practice of Raja Yoga, you begin to see yourself differently.

  • You discover that you are more than your thoughts.
  • You begin to understand why your mind keeps returning to the same patterns, even when you want it to change.
  • You discover a quieter, steadier place within yourself, one that does not depend on what is happening around you.
  • You learn how to return to that place in the middle of an ordinary day.
  • You leave with a simple meditation practice you can continue at home.

Your First Class

Your first class is simple.

We’ll explore one simple idea, experience it in meditation, and leave you with something practical to work with during the week.

There is no pressure to get anything right. You won’t be asked to share anything personal. You’re welcome to ask questions, or simply listen.

Nobody learns meditation in an hour. The first class simply gives you one thing to practice. The next class builds from there.
